Take note of how their eyes look at the camera or how they look at the sides. Now, if a character is looking straight into the camera, you may rotate the individual bones for the eyes (left and right) to further give an illusion that they're really looking at it. You could search Google (or maybe Instagram) for portraits as an example. You could mix "cheerful" and "sad" so the eyebrows form a straight line you could mix "blink" and "smile" so the eyes look "gentle" you could mix "a" and "o" to make a hollow shape. For the eyes, always make sure that they look like they're focusing on something instead of staring into the void (it depends on your character's emotion, however, if whether or not they're in deep thought). #3 Mixing facials and eyes.- Going back to # 2, you can use your face as a reference to achieve that "natural" and "realistic" emotion. Does your shoulder stay in place, or does it move along with it? That's one way into making a model look "natural" when posing. That's exactly what happens in real life, too.If you're making yourself as a reference, try to get a feel on how each bone in your body moves when you're moving another one.For example: try raising your right arm. If you'd watch a ripped motion from a game (Project DIVA), notice how all bones move accordingly. You can find tons of tutorials on how the bones are supposed to be rotated all the way down to how the fingers are supposed to be positioned when they're against something (holding a cup, a spoon, a book, a phone, etc.)If Google isn't giving what you exactly need, use your own body as a reference instead! #3 Use all the bones from a model.- Yep. #2 References.- A quick search on Google for pose reference will help you A LOT. If your model doesn't have the bones mentioned, don't worry! A simple plug-in named "SemiStandardBones" will add those bones for you. I suggest having two upper body bones to make a model's torso pliable. :D #1 I make sure the bones are working properly.- Twist bones are the most important part of a model as they help rotate the arms without twisting/distorting them. I have no idea what to do today so here's a journal on what to do when posing models.
